By Shane Hudson

The clubs new development centre for U15 and U16 players starts this Friday at the Giant Axe, the home of Lancaster City FC.

The clubs new development centre for u15 and u16 players starts this Friday at the Giant Axe, the home of Lancaster City FC. Coached by UEFA A licence staff, the programme runs throughout April with selected players being invited back to join a permanent Elite Development Centre from pre-season in 2019.

The scheme, which is aimed around providing additional sessions to players up to 16, is not aimed at affecting participation with junior clubs, but will give the option of a full time scholarship system when they leave school.

The first session this Friday is free of charge, with further sessions at just £4. Sessions will be themed to give players a flavour of the requirements of semi-pro and pro football as well as some of the practical training methods used by the 1st team at Lancaster City. Player who attend Friday’s session will also receive a free ticket for Saturday’s 1st team game with Grantham at the Giant Axe.
