NEW SIGNING: Local lad Dawson finally joins the Dollies

By Shane Hudson

Lancaster City have swooped to bring Paul Dawson home, to represent his hometown.

Lancaster City have made a further addition to the squad with midfielder Paul Dawson following Brad Carsley from Bamber Bridge to the Giant Axe, with the deal being formally confirmed this morning after his release as a Bamber Bridge player overnight.

The 20 year old, who lives literally a stones throw from Giant Axe put pen to paper on a deal and will joined up with his new teammates at training this week.

A product of the Academy at Morecambe, he grew up playing for local sides at junior level, he spent a session at Kendal in 17/18 before a summer move to Irongate under Neil Reynolds and most recently has been acclaimed as one of the most in-form midfielders in the division, cemented by a hat-trick just a week ago against Hyde.

“We want a nucleus of local, hungry players here and Paul meets that criteria.” Said City boss Mark Fell, “He’s got a good football pedigree and has been in great form at Irongate. He knows the club, the city, the lads - it’s a great fit. Squad wise we’ve got the balance we need now, we may still look at a defender due to Ben Hudson’s injury but I wouldn’t expect us to be doing much more business after that.”

Dawson is set to pull on a Lancaster City shirt for the first time this weekend when we host Witton Albion at the Giant Axe.
