News: Charlie Bailey Becomes a Dolly

By LCFC Media

Charlie Bailey joins his brother at Giant Axe and becomes the latest summer signing for the Dolly Blues.

“Charlie will give us more craft and creativity, and ultimately makes us more effective in attack” Phil Brown, LCFC Manager

Attacking midfielder Charlie Bailey has become the latest addition to Phil Brown's squad, joining his brother Sam in moving across from Kendal Town.

The former Morecambe player put pen to paper this afternoon to commit to Giant Axe for the 2017/18 season in the NPL Premier Division. He follows Scott Harries, Sam Bailey, Paul Dugdale, Oliver Wood and goalkeeper Chris Cheetham in joining City this summer.

Speaking to LCFC Media, Phil Brown said, "At times last season I was frustrated with our inability to break teams down, especially those that sat deep.

"Therefore, it was a priority for me to improve the attacking part of our game. The addition of intelligent players like Charlie will give us more craft and creativity, and ultimately makes us more effective in attack.

"Our recruitment has focused on players who will enhance the attacking capability of the squad. Charlie's technical quality and excellent game understanding will help us do that.

"Put that with the brilliant defensive record from last season and I am excited that we can build on last season's success."

Unfortunately, we report that winger Jacob Gregory is one player who will not be returning to the club next season. Jacob leaves Giant Axe to search for full time football.

On his departure, City boss Phil Brown remarked, "I'd like to thank him for his efforts and hope he is successful in securing full time football. The fact that he's held in such high esteem by the many who watched him signifies the progress he has made.

"I wish him all the best."

Despite the loss, the Dollies' manager is confident for the season ahead. "Jacob put in some impressive displays, but I'm confident we have plenty of ready made replacements.

"There are some very good players in our squad and I feel we will have a stronger squad than last year."
